Mains
The final competitions in a race. This is where, traditionally, you are grouped together with other racers with similar skill levels (ascertained in the Qualifiers) to duke it out for the trophy.

Midrange
Used to describe the engine's middle-line RPM (between idle and top RPM) characteristics. Some slide-carbs have midrange adjustments and are intended to fine-tune the mixture rates in this power band.

Midship
Describes the middle or center of the vehicle, especially the mounting of items to that region.

Muffler
Does just what the name implies. Muffles. Dampens the exhaust noise and provides a thermal barrier for the exhaust port when shutting down. Not usually considered a high performance part. Comes with most older kits.
